Far North Spirits is pushing back on monoculture, growing unique, open pollinated rye grain varietals on our century-old family farm. These rye varietals are selected and farmed specifically for their flavor when distilled, a radical approach that is virtually unheard of in the industry. 

While all our whiskeys are milled, fermented, and distilled using the same meticulous methods, the true difference lies in the rye varietal. Each produces a whiskey with its own unmistakable character and flavor profile, showcasing the remarkable diversity within a single grain.

By farming and distilling single varietal rye, we deliver a whiskey experience grounded in terroir and transparency. You’re tasting the hardiness of northern Minnesota winters, the richness of our glacier-fed soils, and the unique character of heritage grains.

Unlike big distilleries that can’t know their grain beyond commodity grades, Far North Spirits controls every step — from seed planting to final barrel aging. This means our whiskies offer collectors and connoisseurs authentic flavors that are rare, traceable, and impossible to replicate at scale.

We believe grain provenance should be a hallmark of great whiskey, just as it is in great wine or chocolate or coffee. That’s why we grow our own, distill our own, and label by varietal.
