SAZERAC 

2 oz Roknar rye
2 bartender’s spoons turbinado simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water ratio)
3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
lemon peel garnish
Absinthe

Spritz rocks glass with absinthe (3 quick mists). In separate mixing glass, stir ingredients with ice 40 rotations. Strain into glass (we use a lovely chard of clear ice; purists will strain neat). Express lemon peel and garnish.

Born in 1850 and credited as the oldest branded cocktail, the Sazerac is one of our favorite cocktails. The lemon and anise-scented absinthe subtly intermingle, playing off the spice and leather of the rye whiskey…elegant, old school, NOLA.
